As an experiment, a new goal, and a challenge I am building my own website. I don’t know where it will take me or where I want to go with it yet, which is both exciting and frightening to me. All the more reason to do it, right?
Organizing my thought and ideas better
Writing or journalling often comes up as a way to better understand our thoughts and emotions, and if done consistently it can be a tool to find out what our goals are and to how to reach them. I have tried journalling physically with pen and paper and on my phone. This has definitely helped me at times, but in the end, it was hard to keep it organized and I don’t like my own handwriting very much. I will still keep writing in a journal just so I can dump my thoughts on some paper every now and then. But when I feel like I want to write something a bit more coherent I will use my blog to do this and maybe use my journal for inspiration.
Trying something new
In order to find out what you really like doing, what you can get good at or what can make you money with, it is important to keep trying new things. Probably the less you know about it the better because that’s where there is the most growth possible. I knew nothing about creating a website and never really thought about building one. But then I discovered this video of Ali Abdaal on YouTube, and I couldn’t really find a lot of arguments against it, so I did it.
In the beginning, the website will mainly be a blog about my travels, my challenges and a portfolio of my travel photography. I have a few ideas for giving this website a wider purpose, but I will first see how I go with this version.
To get better at writing.
I think writing is a very useful skill to have for everyone. It will train you in organizing your thoughts quickly in such a way that you can communicate it clearly to others and make you better at storytelling.
Developing ideas
By just starting this thing I can already feel new ideas and aspirations coming up withing me. So, I am curious about what it will bring me. I will try to use this site for developing new ideas, ideas that I might want to get feedback on.
Networking / Communicating / Connecting
I hope that through blogging about a variety of topics, that are all personal to me, I can find like-minded people or communities to connect with. Maybe people have questions for me that I could answer, maybe they have answers to my questions or maybe we both have questions, and we can find the answers together.
Have you ever considered building a website or writing a blog?
Itís hard to come by knowledgeable people about this subject, but you sound like you know what youíre talking about! Thanks
